Lauren Orlando: Kate's Witchy Role Models
Kate is Millwood’s practicing witch, casting spells and making magic wherever she goes. But a witch isn’t born over night. Scroll to learn about Kate’s role models and influences!
1. Sabrina Spellman (Sabrina The Teenage Witch)
Sabrina Victoria Spellman was first an Archie Comics character, then later received her own live action show (Sabrina The Teenage Witch) in 1996. Sabrina is half witch, half mortal, and lives with her two aunts (both witches) and a talking cat named Salem.
2. Alex Russo (Wizards of Waverly Place)
Along with her brothers, Justin and Max, Alexandra Margarita Russo inherited her wizard father’s magical abilities. Like Sabrina Spellman, Alex is half witch, half mortal, and learning how to harness her powers.
3. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
Hermione Granger is the most studious witch you’ll ever meet. In the world of Harry Potter, Hermione is a mudblood, which means that she too is half witch and half mortal. Kate admires her constant courage and determination, as well as her pure intentions.
4. Sally and Gillian Owens (Practical Magic)
Sally and Gillian Owens are gifted witches with a family curse. Anyone they fall in love with is doomed to an untimely death. Misfortune and chaos seem to follow them, but they navigate it all using tried and true spells from their aunts’ spell books.
5. Samantha Stephens (Bewitched)
Samantha Stephens may look like a typical American housewife, but is actually quite a force to be reckoned with. Her husband wants nothing more than to have a normal, mortal life, so Samantha agrees to only use magic when absolutely necessary. But, as Kate knows, magic is almost always absolutely necessary.
