Taylor Mosby: The 411
Taylor Mosby is joining A Girl Named Jo for Season 2, and we were lucky enough to chat with her about her role (and her life)! Scroll now for the 411:
Taylor, you’ll be acting in this newest season of A Girl Named Jo, what can you tell us about your character?
I play a girl named Abby. The show takes place during a time when African American students were starting to be integrated into white schools, so she’s going through a big transition. It’s a challenge, but she’s strong and knows who she is. She’s a leader, never a follower.
What was your favorite scene to shoot and why?
There’s a fight scene that was actually really fun to film. It took a lot of time, but everyone was there that day so we got to all be together.
What do you love about being on set?
The family feeling. After a couple of days we got to know each other and have inside jokes. We even started hanging out on weekends. Most of the time being on set didn’t feel like work, it felt like having fun and having friends.
What do you hate about being on set?
Who is a figure from history that you admire/look up to?
I really look up to Malala Yousafzai. Her bravery is incredible. I can’t even imagine having all that adversity coming at me from so many angles. She fights for equality and stands strong for what she believes in. When I read her book, I was so inspired. I figure if she can do all that then I can get up and do the dishes.
If you could be another character on a brat show who would it be and why?
Maybe a judge on The Talent Show.
Is acting your main talent?
Acting or singing. One of these days i hope to find a balance between the two.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I see myself being happy, content, successful, and independent. I made that plan when I was six, so I know that no matter where I am in life i will be grounded, close with my family. My family are my rocks.
What is your very favorite thing to do when you’re not on set or working?
I like writing stories, scripts, music. I love playing the piano, I can sit there for two hours and not get bored. There’s always something new to learn. I also am trying to learn how to play guitar, but for now piano is my passion.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
If I was feeling really adventurous, I’d go to Australia. They really seem like they’re having fun and living their best lives over there.
Favorite show currently?
Atypical on Netflix it’s so good. I love The Good Place and Parks and Rec too.
What’s your middle name?
If you could be someone else for a day who would it be and why?
Oprah because imagine being able to change peoples lives like that! She has the power to change a life. She’s the closest thing to a superhero.
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate chip cookie dough or mint chocolate chip. I always ask for half a scoop of each!
Before we wrap up, can you tell us one last fun fact?
I’ve been tap dancing for eight years. I’m not really a dancer in other categories, just tap. If you really wanna see me go, just give me some tap shoes!
