Steffan Argus: The 411
Total Eclipse has some new cast members, and we thought you’d want to get to know them! Here’s the 411 with Steffan Argus:
Steffan, you play Julian on season two of Total Eclipse, what’s been the best part of shooting this?
The people. My favorite thing about being on set is meeting new people. There are so many people working to put this together, and it’s been a goal to meet everyone and have some sort of conversation with them.
How long have you been acting?
I started musical theatre when I was eleven. Did that for years, then was inclined to get into movies and TV a little later on.
Would we have seen you in anything on TV?
I was on The Gifted, that’s an X Men show on Fox. I played the main character’s boyfriend named Jack. That was a lot of fun.
Is acting your main passion?
No. I love acting, but my main passion is music.
Tell us more about that. What instrument do you play?
Actually, I play nine instruments. Guitar, bass guitar, piano, french horn, cello, ukulele, mandolin, and banjo. I started just with Spanish guitar, but I love learning new things, so that lead me to these other instruments one at a time.
Are you currently pursuing any musical endeavors?
Yes! I'm a solo artist. I perform my stuff at venues whenever I can.
How would you describe your musical style?
I'd say Alternative Rock.
Do you write your own songs?
I've been writing music since I first started playing Spanish Guitar when I was ten.
When you're not acting or making music, what are you up to?
Hiking, surfing, rock climbing. Or reading. I love reading.
What's your favorite book?
Jonathan Livingston Segal by Richard Bach. And right now I’m reading Into The Wild by John Krakauer, which is also great so far.
What's your favorite TV show these days?
This is Us. I cry during every episode.
Of all the scenes you've shot, do you have a favorite?
For The Gifted we filmed a scene that was at a school dance. My character’s girlfriend is a mutant who has powers to make force fields. Her brother is at the dance and he’s getting bullied and he gets so angry that it activates his powers and he destroys the school with his mind. So we had these explosions going off, or, you know, sparks and flames and noises to make it look like explosions. And part of the scene was that all the windows shattered, so they had these fake shards of glass made of rubber shooting out of cannons off camera. It was funny watching them sweep up the rubber pieces after each take, and cool to see how something like that is filmed. Good times.
Before we wrap up, can you tell us one last fun fact?
My friends call me Fin. And when I was a kid, my parents called me Steffzilla, because I was crazy and always crawling off to find new things.
