If you know me, you know I’m a hard worker. Quite often I feel like I’m out in the world fending for myself, which means I have to work twice as hard just to survive. But something I’ve learned: I’ll go crazy if I don’t stop to take it easy on myself. 2019 is the year I learn self-care. Come by on Sundays and I’ll share my favorite self-care tips and tricks with you!

SELF-CARE TIPS TO TRY THIS WEEK:

Spend time with a dog

Feeling stressed? Sad? It’s scientifically proven that cuddling or petting a dog releases oxytocin in the human brain, a chemical that causes feelings of happiness and love.

Binge-watch a show

Life can be a lot to handle, there’s nothing wrong with a little binge-watch to check out for two or three hours. Or four.

Get a manicure

if you’re feeling down in the dumps, getting a manicure can cheer you up. Your hands will look pretty, and it will feel good to know you’re doing something nice for yourself. Too expensive? No one to drive you? An at-home mani is just as nice!

Do a crossword puzzle

Doctor of psychology Meg Selig, Ph.D. says that crossword puzzles can put you into a pleasant and relaxing “trance”. “The cares of daily life drop away as I become absorbed in solving an entertaining puzzle,” She says. Try it for yourself!

Go slower

As soon as the school week starts, it’s easy to start rushing. When you’re rushing, it is IMPOSSIBLE to enjoy life. Trust me. So, try walking slowly to class, taking time to observe your surroundings. At lunch, chew slowly, enjoy every bite! Life is short, there’s no need to rush through it.

Take care of yo’ self, and I’ll see you next week!
